CFEP UK Surveys

Acute Trusts

Acute Trusts

CFEP’s expertise in gathering feedback from colleagues and patients has been successfully utilised by numerous Acute Trusts. Our validated surveys are suitable for in-patient and out-patient services and have been used for both generic and condition-specific improvement work.

Our hospital surveys can be used by doctors, nurses and all other clinical staff

CFEP will look after the whole survey process for you and provide you with all the material that you need to run a patient survey from the hospital.

If other survey methods are needed such as a postal questionnaire to patients or a questionnaire sent or emailed to colleagues, we have well-established methods for getting the job done.

The results that we send to you include all written comments and contain tables and graphs which allow you to see and compare strengths and weaknesses with other similar clinicians and departments in the UK. Results are sent in strict confidence and always contain explanatory documents to help you make the most of the feedback.

The ISQ is a very reliable tool which over the years has been tailored to accommodate various specialities in primary and secondary care. This 13 item questionnaire focuses on the health professional’s interpersonal skills.

DISQ currently forms part of registrar training for a number of deaneries. We offer feedback reports for individual clinicians and for departments as a whole.

The IHQ is a post consultation exit survey designed for hospital departments which provides structured patient feedback on the quality of care provided by the hospital. It also allows individual health care professionals to obtain feedback on their interpersonal skills within the consultation.

360 degree feedback or multisource feedback (MSF) targets more than one audience, providing you with a clearer picture of how you are viewed and where improvements can be made.

CFEP 360 combines our own DISQ and CFET, both validated instruments, to obtain broad spectrum, comprehensive feedback from both patients and colleagues.

Alternatively, CFEP is approved to supply and administer the General Medical Council Patient and Colleague Questionnaires, which have been found to provide a strong base for the collation of evidence for the purposes of revalidating doctors.

“...the GMC’s MSF instrument meets RCGP requirements”.   RCGP Guide to the Revalidation of General Practitioners. RCGP April 2009, version 1.

Trusts undertaking this survey will benefit from early exposure to the process model used to administer the GMC tools. This learning would be useful for feeding into forward planning and resource management processes. For more information see our CFEP 360 degree/MSF page.

PROMS are validated questionnaires that patients may be asked to complete before and after they have some procedure done in a healthcare organisation. The questionnaires are usually designed to be easily filled in, with a number of tick boxes so that responses can be counted or scored in some way. They may just offer a total score or a number of subtotals in different areas of one’s health such as sleep, pain, energy, physical functioning, social functioning, etc. For more information see our PROMS page.

PPiC is used by both Primary and Secondary Care clinicians whose patients have a long-term condition.  The primary objective is to provide feedback to the clinician about the clinicians' ability to motivate and empower their patient to self-care. This survey is a fundamental element of the Advanced Development Course for Clinicians (ADP) itself part of a £5 million nation-wide initiative commissioned by The Health Foundation.  Over 500 clinicians are participating in this initiative over 3 years. For more information see our Self-management page.

Health staff and clinicians tell us how much our workshops have helped them to further develop professional skills and relationships.

We offer a number of workshops which can either be used to explore survey results or which concentrate on other interpersonal aspects of being a clinician.
